Vital Records Project

The Vital Record information from the gravestones in the various graveyards, in Falmouth (MA), needed to be supplemented with data not provided on the gravestones. We turned to The Vital Records of Falmouth, MA to 1850 by Col. Oliver Brown, (now out of print), and The Vital Records of Falmouth, MA 1850 to 1872, an unpublished work by Col. Oliver Brown.

There have been no additional publications of the Town of Falmouth Vital Records, past 1872. Information about Falmouth, MA Vital Records are available from The New England Historical and Genealogical Society and has scans of the original records from 1840 to 1910. This is not a complete collection.

As an adjunct to the FGS Cemetery Transcription Project, members decided to research and publish on this website Vital Records from 1870 to 1930 for Births and Marriages and Deaths from 1870 to 1970. This information has been taken from the published Annual Reports of The Town of Falmouth years 1870 to 1970. Copies of these publications are available at The Falmouth Public Library and The Falmouth Historical Society.

Volunteers are needed to assist with this project. The work can be done at home using Microsoft EXCEL.
